Here's an important note on using photos found in your blogs:
While working photos into your blog is a good thing to do, we really have to take the photos and host 'em on our own servers, while linking back to the originating site.
Why?
Netiquette.
Many in cyberspace actively, hotly resent it when you use their own servers to supply your photos. Many refer to that as "stealing," which in these terms isn't so much a lamentation of you copying the image, it's of your readers using up their bandwidth.
Confused? Let me put it this way:
If your code looks like:
<img alt="streets_75x75.jpg" src="http://www.anyothersite.com/buckeyeswin.jpg" width="275" height="200" />
That means that the anyothersite's servers are supplying the photo at their own expense. You might argue that we're not taking MUCH of their bandwidth, and that's probably true. HOWEVER, good manners are good manners and best practices are best practices.
While you shouldn't go around snagging images willy-nilly, but, presuming we're talking about a media courtesy photo or one that you know you have rights to, here are steps to follow (and for these purposes, I'm going to speak in PC):
Put the cursor over the photo and right-click.
Save it to your desktop.
Follow the instructions on modifying and uploading photos found at our previous photo post.
Also, be sure to note and link back to the site where you got the photo.
The use of photos in blogs is a complex and confusing one, and all the answers haven't been supplied yet, but we'll figure it out as we go along.
NOTE: Embedding videos from sites such as YouTube, which provide the embedding code themselves, is not a violation of any etiquette that I know of.
