One way to get word out on your blog is a more traditional method amongst non-msm-aligned bloggers: Carnivals.
What's that mean? I could explain, but it would be easier to point you here.
That site also has a listing of some current carnivals, by topic.
Even if you don't get involved in the submission form of things, these places are great for culling ideas of your own. (Just be sure to give credit where you got the idea from.)
